Stemlab Group, was founded in 2003 as one of the first family cord blood banks in Europe. Stemlab is currently active in Portugal, Spain, Italy and Switzerland as a provider of the service of cryopreservation of the umbilical cord blood and tissue stem cells. Stemlab offers parents-to-be the possibility to isolate and cryopreserve stem cells from their childrenâ€™s umbilical cord blood and tissue for a minimum of 25 years. Stemlab is one of the founders of the Cord Blood Association and Cord Blood Europe, 2 international nonâ€‘profit organizations composed by the leading private and public cord blood banks worldwide, with the mission of raising awareness on the benefits of adult stem cells and on the need to increase their storage at birth. Stemlab is certified by the ISO 9001:2000 for Quality Management Standards, a certification given by the German company, TÃœV Rheinland, accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), according to the Standards for Cellular Therapy Product Services for the activities related to the processing, storage and distribution of umbilical cord blood and fully authorized according to European Directives for cells and tissue banks.
